In this proposal, President Theodore Roosevelt and President Jimmy Carter—both winners of the Nobel Peace Prize—will be discussed concerning their unique contributions to world peace and harmony. It will primarily focus on their abilities and successes in winning the prestigious Nobel Peace Prize, awarded to individuals who have significantly contributed to promoting global peace. They know how hard each person worked to obtain such a noteworthy award.
Jimmy Carter was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his work as the mediator in the Camp David Accords between Egypt and its neighbors. Later, while still in office, President Carter was asked to mediate other Middle Eastern conflicts and to serve as a watchdog for human rights and nuclear non-proliferation (The Nobel Peace Prize 2002, 2019). He actively engaged in international relations throughout his presidency to fight violence and violations of the rights of people (Volkan, 2023). Jimmy Carter eventually won the Nobel Peace Prize for promoting global peace and human rights.
The Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Theodore Roosevelt in honor of his efforts to end the First Russo-Japanese War in 1905. In order to put an end to the war between Russia and Japan, Roosevelt negotiated the agreement and secured Portsmouth, New Hampshire, as the venue for the peace conference (Ostrander & Rider, 2018). His efforts to advance the peace process had a global impact rather than being for personal gain (Iodice, 2022; Nester, 2019). He received the Nobel Peace Prize, becoming the first American to do so.
In conclusion, the efforts and contributions of Theodore Roosevelt and Jimmy Carter were duly acknowledged, as they both deservedly were. Their influence extended beyond American borders and was essential to peace talks and conflict resolution. The fact that they were given the Nobel Peace Prize reminds them of their service to humanity and inspires future US presidents to pursue diplomatic solutions to international conflicts.
