The primary idea of the news is that President Biden’s approval rates have fallen as a result of failure in some areas. The country is experiencing high inflation rates compared to when Biden was taking office, which makes the majority of Americans consider him unfit for reelection. The economy is in bad shape, making President Biden get an approval of 39% in relation to the running of the economy. The poll puts Republican candidates ahead of their Democrat counterparts in the 2022 midterm election, making it devastating to the current president (Langer). The policies embraced by President Biden do not seem to win the approval of most Americans, especially on the economy and COVID-19 vaccine. The handling of the withdrawal from Afghanistan is also considered a critical factor in the dropping approval rates of President Biden because of the setbacks suffered during the entire process. The growing support for the Republicans in the country is associated with the failure of Biden’s administration to deliver to the American people. The news is an excerpt from Rick Klein’s comments on the ABC poll that puts Democrats below Republicans in the upcoming midterm elections.
The 2022 midterm elections are a concern to the main political parties in the country, with Republicans determined to recapture the house. The current state of affairs in the country is an issue to all the voters who are interested in seeing a country with lower inflation rates and high employment levels. Under Biden’s administration, the economy has had a major setback, given that the country is still recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic; however, the majority believe that COVID-19 has nothing to do with the high rates of inflation (Brodeur et al. 1007). The news is significant because it shows how the current administration is fairing in terms of approval rates and provides insight into the key areas where President Biden and his team have failed, such as the economy. The news offers essential knowledge for political analysts studying the current political wave to predict the trend that may be witnessed in the 2022 midterms. President Biden has not been able to provide the service that most Americans expect, which explains why Democrat candidates are scoring poorly in the polls.
The 2022 midterm election will help determine the chances of President Biden to win a second term in 2024. The polls indicate that the Democratic Party will have a challenge in defending their current numbers in the house because 51% of the voters are willing to support Republican candidates. The news is helpful because it sheds light on voters’ most preferred party as the country heads to the 2022 midterms. I was surprised by the sudden fall of Biden’s approval rate from 52% during the spring to 41% in November because the president won the election with over 50% popular votes. The current approval rate shows that Democrats will have challenges going to the 2022 midterms. Recapturing the house by the Republicans in 2022 may frustrate Biden’s administration because most of his policies may not see the light of the day.
